Sarah Arnold officially became the newest St. Johns County commissioner on Tuesday.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Arnold to fill the District 2 seat after Jeb Smith resigned to serve as president of the Florida Farm Bureau.
Arnold was joined by her husband and children during the brief ceremony. Arnold is the director of resource development for the United Way of St. Johns County.
The District 2 seat will be up for election in 2022.
